Century 1, Quatrain 35:
"The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death."
Some have interpreted this quatrain as referring to the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and his victory over King Louis XVI during the French Revolution.
Century 2, Quatrain 24:
"Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing."
Many have linked "Hister" to Adolf Hitler, and this quatrain is often interpreted as predicting the rise of Nazi Germany and World War II.
Century 2, Quatrain 46:
"After great trouble for humanity, a greater one is prepared,
The Great Mover renews the ages:
Rain, blood, milk, famine, steel, and plague,
