Jeanne Robinson biography

Jeanne Robinson, born on June 30, 1948, in New York City, was an American dancer, choreographer, and science fiction author. She was known for her innovative approach to movement and her collaborations with her husband, the acclaimed science fiction writer Spider Robinson. From a young age, Jeanne showed a passion for dance, studying various forms of movement and performance. She attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she honed her skills as a dancer and choreographer, specializing in modern dance and ballet.

In the early 1970s, Jeanne met Spider Robinson, and the two quickly fell in love and began collaborating on artistic projects. Together, they formed a dynamic creative partnership, blending Jeanne's expertise in dance with Spider's talent for storytelling. One of their most notable collaborations was the Stardance series, a trilogy of science fiction novels that combined elements of dance, space exploration, and human drama. The first novel in the series, Stardance, was published in 1979 and received critical acclaim for its originality and imaginative vision.

In addition to her work as an author, Jeanne continued to pursue her passion for dance throughout her life. She performed with various dance companies and taught classes in movement and choreography, sharing her knowledge and passion with aspiring dancers around the world.

Tragically, Jeanne was diagnosed with biliary cancer in the early 2000s, a battle she fought with courage and grace. Despite her illness, she continued to dance and create, inspiring those around her with her resilience and determination. Jeanne Robinson passed away on May 30, 2010, at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, innovation, and artistic excellence. Her contributions to the worlds of dance and science fiction continue to be celebrated by fans and colleagues alike, and her influence lives on through her work and the lives she touched.
