Diana Gabaldon biography

Diana Gabaldon, born on January 11, 1952, is an American author best known for her acclaimed Outlander series, a blend of historical fiction, romance, and fantasy. Born in Williams, Arizona, she grew up in Flagstaff and eventually earned degrees in Zoology and Marine Biology from Northern Arizona University. Later, she also received a Ph.D. in quantitative behavioral ecology.

Gabaldon's journey into writing novels was somewhat unexpected. In the late 1980s, while she was working as a university professor and scientific consultant, she began experimenting with writing fiction. Initially, she intended to write a practice novel to learn the process of writing a book.
